自営業を営んでいたが、大怪我により車椅子生活になってしまった

初めて書き込みます。
少し長いです。昨夜の話です。
俺は自営業で、ちょっと特殊な仕事をしていた。
従業員も使っていたし、余裕もあったので
今の嫁と結婚する時は、専業主婦でもいいよ！と、嫁に言ったが
私も一緒に仕事がしたい！と言ってくれ
仕事に関しては、まったく素人だったが
嫁に合っていたらしく、嫁はメキメキと仕事が出来る様になった。
従業員達との関係も良いし、本当に皆、家族同然だった。
そんな中、俺が仕事で大怪我をした。
後遺症が残り、片足は完全に駄目で、もう片足は何とか感覚があるだけ。
なんとかリハビリをするものの、完全には元に戻らず
ほとんど車椅子生活をしている。
もちろん、仕事も出来なくなった。
仕事が好きだった俺は、酷く落ち込み
一時鬱にもなった。
これから先、嫁と従業員を抱えて、どうすればいいんだ。
と、途方にくれていた時、嫁が病室にきて
「ねぇねぇ！次の仕事ね、こうしたいんだけど、どう思う！？」
と、あっけらかんと聞いてきた。
見舞いにきた従業員も皆、次はどうすればいいですか！？
と、聞いてきた。
嫁も、従業員も、会社を潰さないように必死だった。
それからは、嫁に病院から頻繁に連絡したり
見舞いに来てくれた時に、仕事の指示を出したりして
俺が退院するまで持ってくれた。
退院してから、リハビリに通い、それでも車椅子生活が続き
仕事も家事も、嫁が従業員と手分けして
全部やってくれた。
俺は、このままではいけないと思い。
車椅子のまま、何とか事務処理だけはしようと
気合いで頑張った。
そして、嫁の代わりに俺が家事をしようと思い
ゆっくりしか出来ないけど、料理と洗濯と
簡単な掃除だけは出来る様になった。

完全に専業主夫状態になった俺は

俺も、嫁や従業員が励ましてくれる事もあり
足は治らないが、心はかなり回復した。
事故から数年経ち、いつの間にか嫁は立派な経営者となった。
俺が指示する事もあるが、ほとんどは嫁の判断でやっている。
従業員も、定年退職した人以外は
ずっと同じメンバーがいてくれて
若い人も少しづつ増えてきた。
そして、ここ何年間の間で
俺は自分の事と、仕事の事で頭がいっぱいで
嫁に「愛してる。」と言っていない事に気づいた。
俺みたいな、障害者で、主夫やらせてもらっている分際で
嫁に愛してるなんて言ってもいいものか？と思ったが
ここに書いてる皆の書き込みを見て、勇気を貰い
昨晩、決行した。

仕事から帰ってきた、汗だくの嫁に風呂を進め
その間、俺は自分と嫁の分の晩酌を用意した。
この時点で、俺の心は何故か緊張しっぱなし。
嫁が風呂から出てきて、二人で酒を飲んだ。
なんとなく会話が続かなくて、モゴモゴしてる俺に嫁は気づき
「どうしたの？」と聞かれた。
俺は今まで、結婚してから苦労をかけた話と、これからも死ぬまで苦労を
かけ続けるだろうと言う話をし
最後に、「お前がいなかったら、俺はきっと死んでいた。
お前が色々してくれるから、俺はこうして生かして貰っている。
ありがとう。愛してる。」
と、嫁の目を見て言った。
そしたら、嫁はジワジワと泣き顔になり
次に、大泣きしながら俺に飛び付いてきた。

「本当は怖かったんだよ～！！
あんたが仕事で機械に挟まれた時
もう死んじゃうんじゃないかと思って

でも、あんたは病院のベッドの上でも
自分の事より、私や従業員や、会社の事を気にしてて
私が落ち込んじゃいけない！と思って
精一杯泣かないように我慢してきたんだよ～！！
車椅子でも、寝たきりになっても喋れなくなってもいいから
絶対私より先に死なないでおくれ～！！」
と、半ば叫びぎみに話す嫁に
俺も大泣きした...。
本当は、嫁だって素人同然から会社を回すなんて
怖かったんだ。俺が死ぬかと思って怖かったんだ。
今までずっと我慢してたんだ。
と思い、二人で大泣きした。
仕事では、もうまったく使い物にはならないけど
なんとか、嫁と従業員をバックアップ出来る様に
ますます頑張らなくてはいけない。と思った。
そして、嫁をもっともっと大事にしなければいけない。と思った。
今の時期は忙しいが、冬手前くらいになったら少し暇が出来るので
嫁と一緒に、俺が車椅子になってから
初めての旅行に行こう！と嫁と約束した。

人間（じんかん）主義と外国人との付き合い方

「人間」と「間人」の間
日本人は元来、個人の主張をある程度抑制して自分が属する集団内の調和を第一に考える傾向があるといいます。この傾向は日本国内では普遍的なので、「あたかも深海魚が海水の存在を終生意識しないように」（日下公人氏による）これまで日本人は特に意識しなかったわけです。
日下氏によると、『その昔、和辻哲郎はこの傾向を論じて「人間（じんかん）」と名づけ、近時では精神医学者木村敏は「人と人との間における自分」という分析概念を提案した。著者はそれを「間人主義の日本人」と名づける。日本人は欧米的な“個人”という「人間観」は持っていないし、したがってまた個人と個人がギブ・アンド・テーク的に契約する相互関係もあまり設定しない。それぞれの人は他の人とのなんらかの紐帯のなかに、みずからの存在意識を見いだすのであって、日本人の言う「我」は自己基準をもった我ではなく、むしろ「汝の汝」であるから、いうならば日本人は人間ではなく「間人（かんじん）」であると説く。』
間人主義とは、（大阪大学・浜口恵俊氏によると）このように定義されています。「1）相互依存主義：社会生活では親身な相互扶助が不可欠であり、依存し合うのが人間本来の姿である。2）相互信頼主義：相互依存関係の上では、自己の行動に対し相手も自己の意図を察してうまく応じてくれるはずだという相互信頼が必要である。3）対人関係の本質視：いったん成立した関係はそれ自体価値があるもので、その持続が無条件に望まれる。」
間人主義の「常識」と「非常識」の間
要するに、日本人（社会・組織）は「気持ちのわかりあい」を重視する文化、気質なのだというわけです。
そうだとすると、東日本大震災と福島第一原発事故は、こうした日本人の文化や気質をさらに一層強化したことになるのかもしれません。
もしそれが本当だとすると、「間人主義」の日本人が、絆のない外の人間たちとどのようにコミュニケーションをとるというのでしょうか。間人主義に共感しない「外の人間」たちがいることなど、想像できない、ありえないそんな人は人間ではない、と思うとしたら ? 絆を共感しあえる関係を作る手続きこそが大切で、そこで何をするか、ではなく、その絆の中にいることにこそ意味があると考える、それが常識だと思うようになるとしたら ?
絆の「外」の人間たちともコミュニケーションし、理解させ理解しなければならないという「外」の現実にどう立ち向かうのか・・・この答えは、「間人主義」からは生まれません。
「問題の答は、人間と人間の間に置いてつきあう。自分自身は融通無碍である。」という間人主義で、「あなたの意見は ? 」と答えを迫られるとき、「間人主義」がグローバル人材育成の盲点とならなければ幸いだと思うのは私ひとりでしょうか。
